T/Lt REGINALD ALAN BATTSON - Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve – London Division HMS President Born on 21 Nov 1885 in Kensington, London son of Benjamin George (Builder) and Frances Mary Anne (Knight) Battson later of The Chase, West Horsley, Surrey.

One sibling - Rupert Knight Battson was a British master model shipbuilder and technical author Known for his detailed instructional guides Educated at Haileybury College 1900-03. (Bartle Frere House) Civilian employment - He was a clerk at the Stock Exchange.

Enlisted Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (HMS President) on 15 Nov 1905, advanced to Petty Officer.

 He married Olive May Short on 13 Jan 1916 and they lived in the Close, West Horsley, Surrey. Wartime Service – No date for mobilisation. He was commissioned and became Sub-Lieutenant on H.M.S. Queen Mary on 3 Jan 1916 (Leaving before 31st May 1916 – Battle of Jutland). Appointed Lieutenant on 4 Jan 1917 on HMS Waterfly.

She was a small shallow-draft river gunboat, built in sections and assembled near the operational area (Abadan) before serving with the Royal Navy on the Tigris River. 

Died 12 October 1917 Age 31 years old, illness. Buried at BAGHDAD (NORTH GATE) WAR CEMETERY XX. K. 10.
