The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo supports the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation’s work in Scotland with £5,000 grant

We are delighted to announce that the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation has been awarded a £5,000 grant from The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

The grant will go towards supporting our work in Scotland, educating and informing the public on the work of Commonwealth War Graves, as well as sharing the stories of the 1.7 million men and women in our care.

The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation was formally launched in Scotland in 2023. We work closely with a variety of organisations, including schools and universities, on a diverse range of projects all geared towards our charity’s core mission.

One of our key Scottish programmes is working with the University of Glasgow to give history students the opportunity to learn more about our work and also take tours and give talks to the public to share what they’ve learned.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo for their incredible generosity.

Since 1950, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has been one of Britain’s leading military spectaculars and the premier military event in Scotland.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo welcomes performers and acts from across the world, resulting in immersive, emotional, and highly entertaining spectaculars. 

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo’s 2026 theme, “A Call to Gather,” draws inspiration from The Call statue in Princes Street Gardens, which honours Scots in America who returned voluntarily to fight in the First World War, symbolising solidarity and shared sacrifice across nations. 

This focus on bringing people together through remembrance strongly echoes the mission of the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation, which connects global communities with the stories of those who served through education, tours, and outreach programmes.
